About Alexandria Soccer Association (ASA): ASA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, established in 1970 in Alexandria, Virginia. ASA operates in the City of Alexandria, Virginia, and offers soccer programs for children ages two through nineteen. ASA programs are intended to develop good character, mental and physical fitness, and interpersonal skills through soccer activities.
Coaching Position: ASA is currently looking for qualified coaches for our Academy (Travel) 2017-2018 year. Coaches will be expected to further enhance our soccer association as a premier club throughout the Washington D.C. region. Our coaches must exemplify a sincere passion for fostering youth players love for the game of soccer. We are looking for coaches who are professional, reliable and capable of adapting to the environment they are coaching in.
Qualification Standards:
- Program Coaches – must have or be able to attain at least an “E” license prior to coaching a program with a goal of achieving an “D” license within a year of coaching- costs covered by ASA
- Coaching and/or playing experience is preferred though not required
- Have a reliable source of transportation
- Availability weekdays and weekends.
- Feel confident working with players of various ages
- Must be reliable and professional
Examples of Duties:
- Implementation of ASA curriculum during training/games.
- Set-up fields with goals, cones, pinnies, balls, etc.
- Interact with players, coaches and parents as they arrive to sessions
- Communicate effectively with players the station and activity they are working on
- Ability to demonstrate skills and techniques you are teaching
- Ensure all players have appropriate transportation home prior to leaving the field
- Breakdown fields and put away any goals, cones, pinnies, balls, etc that were used
Specific Job Skills:
- Basic knowledge of the game of soccer
- Applicants should be patient, friendly and personable
- Ability to connect and motivate players is a must
- Actions are in line with the club values

Coaching Position: ASA is currently looking for qualified candidates for Director of Coaching (DOC) roles within the Academy (Travel) Program 2018-2019 year. DOCs will be expected to further enhance our soccer association as a premier club throughout the Washington D.C. region and must exemplify a sincere passion for fostering youth players love for the game of soccer.
Qualification Standards:
- DOC must have or be able to attain at least an “C” license
- Coaching and/or playing experience is preferred.
- Have a reliable source of transportation
- Availability weekdays and weekends.
- Feel confident working with players of various ages
- Must exhibit excellent ability to demonstrate and model activities/session for coaches/players
- Must exhibit strong administrative skills and organization
- Must be reliable and professional
Examples of Duties:
- Observe and provide direct training support/feedback for multiple sessions and games per week during Fall and Spring seasons.
- Follow up with coaching regarding concrete standards and best practices set for coaches (e.g. professionalism, communication, training/game)
- Bi-weekly Meetings to discuss progress, areas for improvement
- Work with TD to schedule and execute Fall College Events, including College Seminar, College Workshops, and College Tour
- Work with TD with tryout planning and execution.
- Help plan and execute Fall and Spring preseason coaches meetings
- Assist TD with rostering teams
