If you want to become a better coach, you need to prioritize working on:
- YOUR philosophy
- YOUR delivery
- YOUR style.
You need to master your core set of activities.
YOUR work is the point.
As I was reading this wonderful post by Seth Godin, I immediately thought about one of the biggest distractions soccer coaches suffer from: learning.
Specifically, how most coaches believe they are being productive because they are “learning.”
Unfortunately, most “learning” isn’t productive. It’s a distraction. And in some cases a complete roadblock.
Learning is stopping coaches from what they should really be doing: working.
Of course, there are exceptions. And once you know who to learn from and who to ignore you’ll be less distracted.
But if you really want to become a better coach, you need to prioritize YOUR work.
YOUR work is the point.
