Talk about a special podcast! Had no idea about the posers and the pirates you guys have to deal with behind the scenes. However, I do believe – and you must too – that you are in the right place, with the right message, at the right time. We will see but I have to say that I admire people that are true change agents, comfortable with making their stand in the face of the mighty establishment, knowing they will pay a price. It is so very rare in today’s world but it is how great things happen. Soldier on 3FOUR3.
So, the morning after this latest debacle, I was talking to my office mate about the game, and he and I were saying the same things: the ultimate problem was USSF and the system that we have. Neither of us watch MLS very much, maybe the occasional ATL United game or Orlando City, but we do watch a lot of EPL and support Pro/Rel in the US. Any way, when I finished the conversation I immediately went to 3four3 to see if there was any reaction. Glad I did, because you guys were on point (as usual) and I felt affirmed. Really enjoyed the casual conversational atmosphere and the honest open opinions and words.
I have already sent emails to USSF letting them know what I think. There is NO f**king excuse to only have 12 points in our group. 12 points…anyway, keep it up, you are not alone and I too will oin you in your celebration and hope that things will change.
Great stuff, guys. If the failure to qualify for the WC brings fundamental changes to the US soccer structure (pro/relegation, untangling USSF/MLS cosy relationship, etc), we will have a reason to celebrate. But the establishment will resist any change, as one can already see from Gulati’s and Arena’s statements.
Good stuff. Great real world example of how lack of pro/rel holds us back.
Absolute shame you are considered ‘extreme voices’ for suggesting we adopt a key feature shared by the rest of the football world.
A lapse in the logic of adopting the American/monopoly pro sports league model is that American sports don’t have to compete with the rest of the world.
HAHAHAHA, great pod… as a “media clown”. I must say that I count myself among the “conspiracy theorists” you speak of… In the US there are many journo’s who think that scribing for MLS and USSF is journalism, I beg to differ, these are the real conspirists. They are the ones who continue the “big lie” say it loud and often enough and people will start to believe it. I cannot believe the number of people on a daily basis that defend the billionaires rights to me. “if we do not protect them they will take their toys away from us”. I disagree. If they take MLS away from us perhaps we will get a real product, something that isn’t compromised to the hilt. Something that is reality based football,. Not this crap that is being fed to us and reported by shills and hacks… I say fuck them and fuck the MLS product.
I’m a newbie to the whole scene but perhaps with no preconceived ideas I’m actually a lot more open than a lot of coaches/experts I’ve spoken with. It[s only common sense to emulate the experts and their system.Ajax has been doing it for years-the NY Times article on the 3four3 facebook page attests to exactly what these guys and a select few others are preaching but will anybody listen? Are these few enough to generate change? I also wonder if the USMNT will ever have the “best” athletes regardless of system-football,basketball,baseball, wrestling and what’s left? Do you guys think the USWNT is in any better stead?
