This was an off the cuff chat on perhaps one of the most neglected, but fundamental skills in football.
Specifically, what we like to call “losing your man”.
Sure, we all know in theory that creating and finding space while your team is in possession is important. So why isn’t this regularly trained in American soccer? Why is this not generally considered worth any time and attention in coaching education, particularly here in the States?
Why is this rarely a topic of discourse with those who cover the sport here in the States?
All important questions Joey and I start to address in today’s episode.
Per usual, this conversation will stimulate further thoughts, questions, objections, etc …
So if you’ve got some, feel welcomed to follow up with me, and I’ll gladly engage.
