This episode dives into the following topics:
- Mentorship. And I must admit, things get a bit heated. But in a good way, as I was just trying to dig deeper into the topic and extract the most from our guest.
- Whether coaches should copy others or forge their own path. Again, there are some strong opinions here, and it gets a bit spicy.
- The methodology behind John Kokkoris’ success in the 7v7 format.
On that last point, you can now gain access to the entire 7v7 curriculum by joining the program at 7v7coaching.com.

Hey Gary, great episode. I am a dad and Coach out here in Los Angeles of my twin eight year old. I love your information. In this episode, specifically, episode 320, they were references to websites and I was just wondering if I could get those websites. Thank you, keep up the great work.

As a long-time member of 3FOUR3, I have had access to this 7v7 program and have studied it and introduced it to our youth program. Our coaches are thankful and excited. It is a program with structure and video support and is so much better than a binder full of US Youth soccer drills that coaches are unsure of and eventually leave on a shelf to gain dust. In the podcast, John and Gary talk specifically about the 7v7 program lacking a technical aspect. That criticism is unwarranted – the sheer amount of repetitions in the battle rondos has had an amazing impact on our youth technical development – they learn through experience and active coaching feedback. It does help to have a third day of training on individual ball skills like the Johan Juniors program that John runs. I cannot recommend this program any stronger – it is exactly what many youth programs need and a great precursor to the 3FOUR3 program.
